UGC - NT Glass Colors

UGC is proud to offer the improved NT Glass Colors. These colors are as easy to apply and fire as the original formula. They are opaque, vibrant colors not found in the original line that are a powder formula to be mixed with our Glass Medium. The Glass Medium will ensure a smooth glossy surface. These colors can be used on most types of glass, ceramic bisque and also over glazed ceramic pieces. In addition to the vibrant color line, there are two outliners, White and Black, which will allow you to complete projects that are totally food safe.

You will notice the color names are the same as the original colors, and the original numbers have a one added to the front of each. We feel that this system will simplify color identification for those who have been using the original colors. All colors are the same except the NT’s are brighter and more opaque. Currently, no cadmium or transparent colors are available.

Another option is thinning the colors, which can then be brushed, sponged, sprayed or applied with a pen. Yet another is the dry colors can be sifted over the glass for new and different techniques. Click on the Projects button below for sifting instructions. They can be mixed together for numerous shades and all can be used for shading, even over the original formula colors.

Firing is cone 015 or from 1500º to 1525º in a ceramic or a glass kiln. Unique Glass Colors hold their color to a much higher temperature when used on ceramic or porcelain bisque.

These three non-toxic metallic colors, Copper Glow, White Diamonds and Gold Dust add a very special touch to your artwork. They mix with medium in the same ratio (1:1) and fire the same as the rest of the line but give you the beauty of a soft, satiny metallic glow. They can also be added to any of the other colors in the Non-Toxic/Lead Free line to added a bit of sparkle to the color. Use them with stencils by coating the glass with Painting Oil, place the stencil on the surface and dust/sprinkle/drop the metallic color over the stencil. An especially nice look is to do that technique on a piece of glass then create a new design on a second piece of glass and sandwich the stenciled piece in between and fuse.

Our NT color line contains no lead. Perfect for food safe items and for use in schools. Colors come in 1 ounce or Pints. Needs to be mixed with Glass Medium on a 1:1 ratio, then add a few drops of water. Mix only what you will use in a day. Glass Medium comes in 8, 4 and 2 ounce jars. Colors are opaque and semi-opaque. Firing range is 1515 - 1550 degrees F or cone 015 - 016.
